SHOEBOX PROJECT
Christmas is round the corner and we will soon start making our decisions about how we will spend our Christmas, gifts, menus etc.
As we are all well aware, not everyone is as fortunate as ourselves. I am supporting an initiative – the Christmas Shoe Box programme which is supporting children in the Ruytewacht area. The children are all pupils at the De Wavern school in Ruyterwacht (which is one of the poorest areas in the Western Cape). These kids are also not fed at home and are fed through a local care group on a daily basis.
Would’nt it be wonderful if each of those kids could have an opportunity to be a kid again on Christmas day? Each one with their own gift?
Here is how you can help.
You will get a name of a child as well as his/her age. You need to fill a shoe box (with a fitting lid) with all sorts of little goodies, whatever you feel you would like to put in. Ideas could be stationery, sweets, toiletries, a toy or two (or more), clothing, books, etc, etc
The shoebox then needs to be covered nicely with wrapping paper with the child’s name written on.
This way, each child will get their own personalized surprise box on Christmas Day.
If you feel you would like to get involved in this project, please let me know and I will ensure that you get ‘your’ child’s name and age soonest!
The box needs to be ready by 14 November please
if you would like to get involved in this initaitive, please let Sparky or Gazza know or contact Elaine directly on elaine.pretorius@za.unisys.com
Lets make some children happy this Christmas!
