Cheap booze, good food and dodgy dance moves characterised this season’s end of year formal at the UCT Tennis Club.
For those who weren’t there and may be asking, ‘So what’s changed?’ rest assured, it was a night like no other.
A collective swallowing of pride by the committee saw Emmelia and Lean handed the decoration duties with sparkling results, and with Nick ‘Iron Gullet’ Solomon manning the oven, the Shebeen contingent feasted like kings.
MC Siv (We are) Ngesi entertained the great turnout with some stand up comedy before chairman Richie Connear began the arduous task of reading through the awards (Most are listed below). These awards were usually punctuated by an amusing spar beween Richie and Milo, with Tom providing vocal back up.
USA outplayed Canada in the singing stakes with Lane’s ‘Sweet Chariot’ edging James’s ‘Yo Ho!’ Shebeen Old Boy Chris Vella then showed the youngsters how it was done on the dance floor, and even Tom could be spotted in the bathroom and Tennis Club surrounds practicing his Vellian five-step.
