Shebeen 15 Spanners 7
The Shebeen Boys booked their place in the Internal League final with a 15-7 win over the Spanners on Wednesday.
Shebeen dominated from the outset, the first try the product of pure pressure. Mark Bowen-Davies crashed over from close range after Shebeen had laid siege for some time, and although Chris Rood missed the conversion, he added a penalty to ensure the Beenies went to the break 8-0 ahead.
Shebeen were in unfamiliar territory at this point, as the majority of the season has been about fighting back from 10-0 deficits. Nevertheless, they continued to pressure Spanners in the second half and turned in an improved showing at the breakdown. The pressure told once again when a loose Spanners pass was swooped on by Rood.
The Spanners scored a late consolation try, but by then the game was over.
