About the Shebbies

The Shebeen Boys rugby team was established in 2003 by Sean Grobelaar – as legend has it – over a pint or six at a local pub in Newlands.

This site is dedicated to fun; for the players, the friends and you – who ever you may be. Click on the links and read all about this legendry rugby team.

Club Membership

• The Club is open to anyone aged 18 years and older.
• At this time R300 UCT Internal League playing dues are required per annum (a rugby jersey and cap will be provided to each fully paid up member).
• New members are always welcome.
• Any member of the Club can invite friends and family to attend events as guests.
• Committee members handle all the event planning but will recruit non-committee member to help out during certain events.
• Members are e-mailed several days before the event, and they are required to RSVP to attend events.
• Each member pays for his/her participation in various events throughout the year. PLEASE NOTE: many events will be subsidised through sponsorship so fees will be minimal.
• The current Club Committee Members listed below, along with their e-mails. The duties of each officer are enumerated in the Charter, listed under the “Charter” section.
