About Shebeen SSC

The Shebeen Boys rugby team was established in 2003 by Sean Grobelaar – as legend has it – over a pint or six at a local pub in Newlands.

From being established in 2003 through UCT internal league rugby we have grown and expanded into a number of different sporting disciplines such as bowls, cricket, waterpolo and running. These disciplines are played under Shebeen Social Sports Club upon becoming an invited member.

This site is dedicated to fun; for the players, the friends and you – who ever you may be.

Club Membership

The Club is open to anyone aged 18 years and older.
New members are always welcome.
Any member of the Club can invite friends and family to attend events as guests.
Committee members handle all planning of events and must be consulted prior to running of Shebeen SSC functions
